The key component of the CSD 650 is the pontoon. This section houses the dredge pumps powered by engines, the control center on the bridge, a general-purpose power supply, and more. At the front of the dredger lies the cutter ladder, supporting the underwater pump and cutter-head. Connected to the pontoon via the trunnion, the ladder can be raised or lowered using a hoisting wire linked to the gantry above. Positioned at the front of the ladder, the cutter-head excavates material through a rotating motion. The teeth on the cutter head loosen the material, which is then lifted by the main pumps.
